 Rodarius Marcell Green (born August 27, 1998) is known as Rod Wave, is an American rapper and singer. [3][4][5The Wave is well-known for his powerful voice and mixing R&B and hiphop [2] and has been hailed as a pioneer of soul-trap. His single for 2019 "Heart on Ice" was a huge hit on YouTube as well as TikTok. The song peaked at the top 25 spot on Billboard Hot 100. Wave's debut album Ghetto Gospel (2019) peaked at the 10th spot on the US Billboard 200. His follow-up album Pray 4 Love (2020) peaked in the Billboard 200 at number 2,[99. The album featured the hit song "Rags2Riches" which climbed to number 12 on the Hot 100. The album he released his third SoulFly (2021) debuted at number one on the Billboard 200, marking his first chart-topping record. Wave's career started in 2016 with the release his mixtape, Hunger Games Vol. 1. Wave released several mixtapes by himself before signing with Alamo Records. He released his mixtape PTSD on the 14th of June in 2019, featuring the hit song "Heart on Ice". The track became a huge success via YouTube and TikTok. It reached number 25 on Billboard's Hot 100. [7] Wave's debut album, Ghetto Gospel, was released on the 1st of November 2019. It peaked at the number 10 spot on the US Billboard 200. On April 3, 2020, Rod Wave released his second album, "Pray 4 Love". It was released at the number 2 position on the Billboard 200. The deluxe version was released on the 7th of August. The album was released at the 2nd spot on the Billboard 200, with an enhanced edition following on August 7. 14. On August 11 the 11th of August, 2020, Wave was included on XXL's 2020 Freshman Class. Wave spoke out in July of 2020 to announce that he was still working on his third studio album. It was originally scheduled for August 27, 2020. Two years later, he revealed the track list for his album SoulFly on March 6, 2021. [16][17] He also included songs "Street Runner" and "Tombstone" and "Tombstone," which was his most-charting song, peaking at number 11 on The Hot 100. [18][19(1919) Wave released the track "Nirvana" in the latter half of 2021. The song sparked controversy as many thought it was a suicide song, which Wave categorically denied. [20]
